The Academic Curriculum at St. Christopher’s Academy
The Pattern of Curriculum
St. Christopher’s Academy follows the internationally recognized standard syllabus and provides curriculum of learning. We use different teaching methods keeping the students’ interests in mind.
Following the standard CBSE English curriculum, we adhere to all the official guidelines given by the CBSE board and we follow NCERT books. In addition to this, we have supplementary books from NCERT approved publishers.
METHODOLOGY
Here at St. Christopher’s Academy we equip the children to develop and flourish freely through self-directed play and progressive learning techniques under the guidance of the teacher.
SOCIAL INTERACTION
Here we teach them to develop social skills. They learn to open up, share, and make friends.
Creativity: Children learn to express freely and their creativity is kindled. This helps them to appreciate everything around them.
PRIMARY
The primary curriculum is designed to nurture the child in all dimensions of his or her life – spiritual, moral, cognitive, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical.
A thematic approach is designed to stimulate the children through various interactive sessions and activities.
An extensive use of teaching aids to supplement classroom teaching.
Project works in class calls for mass participation. An equal emphasis is laid on developing a strong sense of individuality.
Field trips and excursions make learing fun.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
- In the middle school years, curriculum focuses on helping students to become increasingly independent learners and preparing them to succeed in high school and beyond. The emphasis is laid on building up the structured, student-centred and enquiry based foundation laid at the Primary level.
- The Curriculum is research oriented and learning opportunities are provided through worksheets in the classroom, laboratory time, library time, computer time and small group discussion time.
- Personality development is stressed through development of academic knowledge, the ability to question, sensory experiences and a honing of creative expressions..
We subject our students to a curriculum which focuses primarily on their smooth transition from pre-primary to primary. It draws focus on core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, the English language and a Second language, and sets stage for introduction to higher schools and levels of learning.
We are entirely invested, through curriculum and infrastructure, in striking a balance between academics and extra-curricular activities. As a result, our students tend to excel in either or both fields, setting a splendid example for the ones to follow in their footsteps.
We provide opportunities for our students to not only learn, but thoroughly enjoy various forms of Art, Sports, and Physical Education. Our field trips, Annual Days, Annual Sports Meets, and more such activities are designed to challenge their abilities, test the application of all they have learnt, and hone their team-building and leadership skills.
We find that our curriculum trains our students such that they carry these invaluable skills with them after graduating from our school, applying them to various aspects of their life.
