English Club of St.Christopher’s Academy

Venue : Library Members: I to VI Conducted on: Every alternate Mondays

English language club activities are enjoyable which stimulates the students’ enthusiasm and helps them to improve their communicative skills. Classroom teaching practices have certain restrictions, which prevents a conducive English learning environment. It is impossible for each student to participate in English speaking and reading. The limited classroom session is not enough to enhance these skills.

The main objective of our English club is to improve the English language proficiency. It aims to

  • Promote English language learning activities in school
  • Improve the students’ oral and communication skills

The students from classes I to VI are divided into two groups Classes I to III and Classes IV to VI
Activities are planned and structured according to their age level and executed accordingly.

Grammar activities:

The basic grammar concepts are re-enforced and simplified through activities
Unscramble the Jumbled Words
Complete the proverbs
Mention the plural forms
Act to identify verbs from sentences given.

Speaking Skills:

On Spot topics to ensure the speaking ability is practiced for classes IV to VI while Classes I to III will have to describe the Objects displayed before them

Tongue Twisters

Quiz Show are also conducted to improve their speaking skills.

Role Play:

Children were asked to take roles from the famous “Noah’s Ark story and act. Where the children depict the characters with their own dialogues by learning the character sketch given by the teachers.

Hindi Club

Club activity help the children to develop socially and help them to learn to work as a team. Children interact with those they may not know. Mixed ages are supported in the club.

In Hindi club we help the children to understand the language better through activities.Children are divided into teams and activities are conducted.

Word building : Children are asked to say atleast three words when a letter is said to them.
Eg: a – anaar, amrudh, adhyapak.

Matching : Word cards are prepared in Hindi and English.Children are asked to match the correct meaning of English word with Hindi word .
Eg: Banana – kela.

Storytelling : Teacher tells the story in Hindi and the children try to translate in English.

Doha : It is the word derived from Sanskrit. It is a two line poem which has a moral like Thirukural in Tamil.

Vocabulary : New words are taught to improve their skills in writing and reading.

இவ்வாறு தமிழ் மன்றம் ஒவ்வொறு மாதமும் மாணவர்களின் மொழித் திறனை வளர்க்கும் வகையில் நடைப்பெற்றது.
