A field trip or excursion is a journey taken by a group of people to a place away from their usual environment. Here at St. Christopher’s Academy, the senior children were taken on a field trip to Railway Museum and Egmore Museum. On February 1ST (2020)
Railway Museum:
The museum has a vast collection of old engines, modern rails and several memorabilia. Spread over an area of around 6 acres, this museum also has several steam engines from the British period. The toy train running inside the museum is the major attraction for children and the art gallery comprising several paintings regarding the development and evolution of Indian railways. Children got the opportunity to learn about the evolution of railway transportation through rare photographs, working scale model of trains, artifacts and exhibits of train models since the British era.
Egmore Museum
Egmore Museum or the Madras Museum is the second oldest museums in India. It is rich in archaeological and numismatic collection. It has the largest collection of Roman antiquities outside Europe. It comprises several galleries under various sections like archaeology, anthropology, geology, botany, numismatics, contemporary art, zoology and children. This helped the children to see how vast and old this world is, it spurred their long-lasting fascination with the early humans and the stars above them.
